Keith scraped the ice off Lawrence’s car, making sure it was completely clear of mud and grime from his journey home. He buffed with the brush, careful not to scratch the paint. Keith didn’t understand why he had to be so meticulous with his car, when Lawrence treated it better than him, reckless without regard to preservation of their relationship. His car was his most valued asset, more worthy of importance than loving him.

“I’m through.” Keith threw the brush at him. “Leave and never come back.”
