Climbing the cliff barefoot and naked, Alkos stared past the canyon he traversed, almost reaching his final ascent. He returned to this one place only when he felt trapped by possession. In this instant it was Godfrey a jealous controlling man, he met barely a month before. Why are the men in my life always like him? I need my freedom, not to be with just one man. Alkos had friends but always bonded in relationships, leaving him shut out of his sexual attraction to explore their bodies like real men love men. Godfrey kept hammering him to stay away from any other man he viewed with his amorous eyes. Like a jealous housewife, his new acquaintance needed to know where he went when he left his apartment, while they worked separate jobs in the city, inhabited by so many available gay men.
Reaching the top, he lay down on the slab of sandstone etched with spring wildflowers, sponging the warmth of the bright glaring sun. He had one hour to expel the origins of his oppression, regaining his strength to send Godfrey packing, himself perusing independence in search of the pleasurable scent of masculinity of men loving as men.
