It was eight o'clock. Dennis prepared for a blind date, set up by his friend Karen, with a special man Marlon. He never dated a man without meeting the person first. He was climbing the walls with anxiously. After working out at the gym for three months, he flexed his arms in the mirror, attempting to observe an improvement. The person looking back him pointed his finger and was laughing. Am I that hideous person in the mirror? Shit! I might as well give up. I’m no Adonis; I’m just plain me. I won’t stand a chance with Marlon if he’s half the man Karen described. I might as well shower and wash my foolish pride away. Dennis sat at an outside table, sipped a Cappuccino at Café Marcos, and waited for a sign of Marvin. Staring straight ahead, impatient and ready to walk away, he felt two hands cover his eyes from behind.
“I wanted to meet you in a unique way. Karen showed me your photo, so I planned this blind date. I’ll count to ten; turn around. Then you’ll finally see me, the one who wants to know the man behind your physical appearance, the real you."
