When I remember my uncle, Captain Neal, a lifer in the Navy, as a young boy, I feared him because he spoke with a deep baritone voice and was built like the man of steel. His muscled biceps bulged with tats. My father’s sister and he married when they were young but never had children. I sighed in relief when he retired, divorced my aunt and moved away.
Never imagining I would see him again, I was brought headfirst into a new revelation when I graduated from high school and moved to escape my Midwest origins. I lived in San Francisco, exploring my new identity for a year when I spotted him in a gay leather bar. Trying to hide in the dark with no way to escape, he cornered me. I couldn’t refuse his offer to buy me a beer. Guzzling it down and receiving another one, I relaxed enough to find myself attracted to his softer, macho charisma.
When I accepted his invitation to follow him home to his Telegraph Hill flat, my sexual curiosity soared rampant with infinite possibilities. Sharing many orgasms for hours, he wasn’t exhausted to kiss me passionately. Helplessly, I was falling in love.
