When Gerard hiked, with his best pal through the wooded parcel, Roger ran off in a split-second’s time, on one of his usual prowls. Gerard kept calling his name. Gerard came to a stream blocked by fallen trees. Getting late, he had no wish to leave his lifelong pal in the deserted overgrowth, for the night. Stumbling over a branch, a crackling sound of broken branches echoed in the silence. He looked up to see a shirtless man standing less than ten feet away. Dazed by the man’s pensive stare, his with eyes glaring do not trespass signs, told Gerard to run. Standing but falling backward, he sent more rippling crackles of rupturing branches.
“Dude? You lost?” The man’s voice thundered. Swinging his black leather jacket over his broad shoulder, he exposed a tattooed arm, defining his cropped hairy chest.
Gerard’s eyes glazed with tears, from the burning pain in his leg and the sudden buzzing beat of his heart. Surges of testosterone growled beneath his pants. The man’s aura commanded masculinity, matching Roger’s dominance over Gerard.
“Who’s Roger?” The man extended his hand to help Gerard from his collapsed position.
“He’s my dog. You’ve seen him?”
“Come with me.”
